As men begin to age, it is very common for most to experience some level of hair loss or hairline thinning. Sometimes this condition is inherited, but can also result from stress, hormonal imbalances or medications that you may be taking.
For some men hair loss is viewed as an acceptable part of life and the aging process. However, there are many that grow increasingly dissatisfied with their hair loss and change in physical appearance. For these patients, hair restoration may provide the perfect solution.
Over the last several decades, much progress has been made regarding the technology behind treatment for male hair loss. One of the most popular techniques for treatment is follicular unit hair restoration. Follicular unit hair restoration involves the removal of a thin strip of hair-bearing scalp from the back of the head. The hairs are then removed from the donor strip and then transplanted into the area where hair has been lost.
During the procedure you will be awake and comfortable, receiving anesthesia where necessary to eliminate pain.
Dr. Robert Kimmel welcomes the opportunity to help you achieve your goals by enhancing your appearance and enjoy a happier, more confident lifestyle.

If you are experiencing aching or tingling in your hand or fingers, it may be very likely that you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a disorder, which causes tingling, numbness and dull aches in the hand and thumb through ring fingers and is the most common site for upper extremity nerve compression or neuropathy.
What causes Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?
The carpal tunnel is a passageway through the wrist carrying multiple tendons and one of the hand’s major nerves. Injury, fluid build-up or repetitive overuse can cause this tunnel to develop a build up of pressure – causing the nerve to ache and lose feeling. This build up of fluid can develop as a result of rheumatoid arthritis, injury, pregnancy or overuse.
How is Carpel Tunnel Syndrome cured?
A surgical procedure can simply and effectively release the pressure from your nerves in your arm and hand. Termed carpal tunnel release, the surgery involves division of a thickened ligament compressing the median nerve at the base of the palm causing dramatic relief of symptoms.

As we all age and gravity begins to set in, our skin loses its collagen and elasticity. This can result in lost facial volume as well as lost volume in other areas of the body. If you have tried other treatments only to be disappointed with your results, it may be time to consider what is known as a stem cell makeover.
Stem cells, while often controversial in other medical uses, occur naturally within your body. Dr. Kimmel is specially trained in the use of stem cells for improving your appearance by transferring fat cells from one area of your body through liposuction, processing the fat to collect the stem cells, and then reintroducing your own stem cells into another area of your body such as the breasts, face, or hands to give them a rejuvenated appearance. These cells can help stimulate the natural growth of collagen in your body and help restore your skin’s youthful appearance and elasticity.
The results of a stem cell makeover are dramatic, making your look years younger after just a few days of recovery.

Collagen implants are a frequent point of discussion with our patients. For those patients who are seeking to restore lost volume in their face and lips – without implant or skin-tightening surgery, collagen injections may be the perfect solution.
Collagen is a natural product that can be injected just below the surface of your skin to plump and fill the skin – smoothing out the appearance of lines and wrinkles. While collagen is found in our skin already, over time this collagen breaks down and degrades. Implants can refill these hollowed spaces and stimulate the growth of your own, naturally occurring collagen.
Collagen can be used to take years off of your appearance by smoothing out wrinkles and facial lines, plumping your facial contours and replacing volume that has been lost in the cheeks or lips.
There are very few risks or side effects to receiving collagen implants, however it is advised that you received allergy testing prior to your injections – as they will last several months.

Even those patients who undergo cosmetic surgery should be prepared to discuss the likelihood of scarring with their physician. No matter what the purpose of your surgery there are always potential risks from anesthesia, the surgery itself and scarring.
Before you make the decision to undergo any surgical procedure it is important to discuss your entire health history with Dr. Kimmel. This will allow him to determine if you are at an advanced risk for negative side effects – including scarring. Even the most well-trained and experienced surgeons cannot completely surpass some patients’ likelihood of scarring. By disclosing your entire health history you can help set realistic expectations for your surgical outcome.
Unfortunately, the most common reasons that patients experience excessive surgical scarring are unavoidable. Conditions such as age, race and heredity all impact your scarring capacity. For example African American patients are more likely to form keloid scars on the surface of the skin than Caucasian patients. Additionally, all patients, as they age, lose elastin in their skin making it more likely to scar.
Despite these uncontrollable factors, your likeliness to scar can also be affected by the nature of your surgery. Large incisions, deep incisions, etc. are all more likely to scar than smaller incisions. If you are concerned that you are likely to scar after your surgery be sure to discuss all of your options with Dr. Kimmel, he may be able to suggest alternate locations for your incisions.
Finally, it is important to stop all tobacco use, including smoking prior to undergoing any surgical procedure. The nicotine found in these products restricts the flow of blood to your incision site and can actually cause your surgical incision to blacken or even die.
By understanding your risk factors, discussing your entire health history and adopting healthy habits you are more likely to reduce your chances of excessive scarring after cosmetic surgery. Contact Dr. Robert Kimmel to learn more and schedule your surgical consultation today.
Dr. Robert Kimmel is well trained and highly experienced at the surgical procedure known as rhinoplasty. Also called a “nose job,” rhinoplasty procedures are used to correct the shape of the nose, change its position or projection and also make medically necessary improvements to your nose.
Rhinoplasty can be used to change the shape of the bridge of the nose, making it more narrow, or eliminate bumps and ridges. It can also be used to change the projection of the tip of your nose, either pointing it more upward or downward or correct a crooked nose tip.
These procedures are typically not covered by health insurance. However, if you are in need of a nose job in order to correct a deviated septum or other breathing issue it is very likely that your insurance will cover all or a portion of your surgery.
A rhinoplasty only takes a couple of hours to perform in our office. You’ll be able to go home right afterward but should expect several weeks of recovery. You’ll be asked to wear a splint on your nose for a week or two and will also have to pack your nose in order to support its new shape. Your scars will be located in the creases alongside your nostrils so in most instances they will not be visible, although the incision will take several days to heal.
You should expect your nose to be bruised and swollen for weeks following your surgery. With each passing day the appearance of your nose will improve and its new shape will begin to reveal itself over time. However, it may take six months for your full results to be apparent.
If you would like to change the shape of your nose, improve your breathing or make other corrections, contact Dr. Kimmel today to learn more about rhinoplasty surgery.
If you are considering a liposuction procedure for the elimination of your stubborn fat deposits, Dr. Kimmel hopes that you’ll consider the unique benefits of “Tickle Lipo.”
Tickle Lipo’s formal name is Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture and is FDA approved for the removal of fat cells from the body. It is a relatively new product on the cosmetic surgery market but offers many advantages to patients.
Tickle Lipo works similar to other liposuction procedures in that it uses a cannula (or thin metal tube) to create motions that allows fat cells to break up and be suctioned out of the body. However, Tickle Lipo is unique in how it moves and breaks up those fat cells. The cannula is powered by air pressure and creates a patented oscillation and vibration that is more effective against fat cells than any other liposuction device.
Tickle Lipo is also advantageous for many patients because it preserves nearby, non-fatty tissues, creating less trauma within the body. Patients report loving Tickle Lipo, because just as the name indicates, it is not a painful procedure and instead feels like a tickle sensation below the surface of the skin when performed under local anesthesia.
For more information about Tickle Lipo or to schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Robert Kimmel’s office today.

It is true that hair loss is most commonly experienced by male patients. However the condition does affect women more often than many realize. So if you’re a woman and are starting to experience excessive hair loss, it is important to realize that you are not alone and there are treatment options available.
Generally, one in five women will suffer from some form of hair loss in their lives. This is a relatively high statistic which has led medical science to several new and innovative treatment options. When treating your hair loss as a woman, it is important to see a physician who specializes in hair loss in women and understands the unique challenges presented by your condition. For example, in women, hair loss is widespread across the scalp and not found in patterns like it commonly is in male patients.
Follicular unit hair transplantation has evolved as the gold standard in procedures to reverse hair loss in women. Dr. Kimmel specializes in this procedure and has successfully performed hundreds of transplantations.
It is performed by removing a “donor” strip of healthy hair from elsewhere on you scalp and transplanting those healthy hairs in the balding area. Your hair transplant may be paired with topical products to promote the regrowth of your new follicles.

It is very common for the skin under our arms to lose its elasticity and to sag over time. This condition is concerning for both male and female patients who visit Dr. Kimmel’s office. The sagging of the skin under the arms can also be attributed to dramatic changes in weight or muscle loss, which is a common cause in male patients.
Sagging skin under the arms can be especially stubborn and may not be improved over hours and hours of exercise. Many patients come to our office after trying countless other avenues to correct their sagging underarm skin. Also known as brachioplasty, an arm lift can help you quickly achieve a toned and firm appearance without the frustration.
A brachioplasty targets the excess skin in the area between the patient’s underarm and elbows. Brachioplasty can also be performed in combination with liposuction to remove excess fat and to help achieve a more toned arm contour. Otherwise, an arm lift will not eliminate fat from your arm.
An arm lift can be performed in just a couple of hours and you should be able to return home immediately with careful at home care instructions. You may experience swelling and even bruising after the procedure which should completely subside within a week or two of surgery as your arms’ new shape begins to reveal itself.
Don’t spend another day wishing that your arms looked more toned and youthful. Take an important step to dramatically improve your appearance and discuss an arm lift with Dr. Kimmel today.
Juvederm is a cosmetic product, approved by the FDA, used for adding volume to areas of the face that may begin to hollow or sag as a result of age and gravity. Many of our patients like Juvederm because it is a compound composed of hyaluronic acid – which is a substance that is already in our bodies. This acid naturally deteriorates over time, causing skin to wrinkle and sag. Replacing your skin’s hyaluronic acid with Juvederm will bring volume and newfound vitality to your appearance.
Juvederm for Lips: when injected into the lips, Juvederm adds volume and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles near the lips. Results last as long as 9 months.
For Fighting Wrinkles: Juvederm can also be injected into hollowed areas of the face to add fullness and therefore smoothness to fine lines and wrinkles that have appeared over time. Juvederm injections for facial wrinkles last anywhere from 9-12 months.
Juvederm is an injectable product only available through your physician’s office. If you’d like to improve the appearance of your lips, hollow cheeks or wrinkles but are not ready for a surgical procedure, contact Dr. Kimmel for a complete evaluation today. He will discuss your health history with you as well as your cosmetic goals and determine if Juvederm is the right course of treatment for you.
