About Us

Welcome

Keystone Surgery Center Front DeskWelcome to Robert M. Kimmel, MD, FACS, PC, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Keystone Surgery Center.

Dr. Kimmel and his staff recognize that choosing a qualified, experienced plastic surgeon is the patient’s first and most important step on the road to cosmetic enhancement. With board certifications in both plastic and general surgery, and more than 15 years of cosmetic surgical experience, Dr. Kimmel is uniquely qualified to offer his plastic surgical expertise in a caring, compassionate setting responsive to patient’s unique and individual needs. Whether performing cutting edge surgery in his state licensed, nationally-accredited ambulatory surgery center (Keystone Surgery Center), or non-invasive cosmetic enhancement procedures, Dr. Kimmel’s principal priorities include patient comfort, confidence with your care and meticulous attention to detail in order to achieve consistently superior results.

Keystone Surgery Center LobbyWe appreciate that you have selected our practice and surgery center to provide you with cosmetic and reconstructive surgical services in a state-of-the-art facility. Our purpose is to provide you with confidential, high-quality medical care. We encourage you to ask questions and discuss your treatment. Our primary objective is your satisfaction with the care you receive. This information has been designed to make your visits with us a pleasant, positive experience. In an effort to make each office encounter as efficient and productive as possible, we offer the following information regarding a variety of policies:

Appointments

Schuylkill County Plastic SurgeryInitial consultations or follow-up appointments are scheduled in advance for the convenience of our patients. We therefore, respectfully request that you contact us in advance so that we can reserve an appropriate amount of time for each of our office encounters. Our office hours start at 8:00 am on Monday and are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday. As we recognize that personal scheduling conflicts do arise, please notify us in advance if attending your scheduled office visit is not possible. Conversely, we will notify you in advance of any scheduling conflicts that arises as the result of medical emergencies, or surgical delays requiring Dr. Kimmel’s attention. These policies are designed to minimize waiting and optimize office efficiency.

New Patients

dr_kimmel_2New patients will be asked to complete an online questionnaire/registration, and for those patients without internet access, they will be required to come earlier to their appointment to complete required forms.  This will serve to expedite your office visit and minimize waiting time. It is also necessary for you to bring your health insurance card(s) in order to scan them into our records. Please inform us of any change in health insurance status which may occur during the course of your care. If your health insurance is provided by a managed care organization (i.e. HMO), please recognize that it is your responsibility to bring both a referral from your primary care physician and your office co-payment to enable us to participate in your care. Failure to obtain a referral or pay your co-payment for a visit will require the rescheduling of your appointment.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery, your initial consultation will include a complete history and problem focused physical examination. In addition, Dr. Kimmel will provide you with all pertinent details regarding your recommended surgery, realistic expectations for the peri-operative period and reasonable anticipated outcome. You will also be provided with a comprehensive estimate for your recommended surgery including surgeon, facility and anesthesia fees. Because of the number and complexity of anatomic variations between individuals, these financial estimates are best given by our staff after completion of a cosmetic consultation and are generally not quoted over the phone. These cosmetic consultations are free of charge. Dr. Kimmel’s primary goal is to provide you with complete, honest and accurate information regarding your recommended cosmetic surgery. Payments for all cosmetic procedures are due two weeks prior to the surgery date. We offer a variety of payment options, including personal checks and credit cards as well as financing arrangements with a local bank and national health care credit organizations (Care-Credit). For more information regarding these options, see ‘Financing’.

Clinical Questions/Medication Refills

Please contact our office regarding any questions that you might have regarding your clinical situation. Our receptionist will direct the calls to our office clinical staff. If the clinical staff members are actively engaged with direct patient care, a message will be given to them and they will return the call at their earliest possible opportunity. For medical emergencies that may arise during the hours when the office is closed, Dr. Kimmel can always be reached through our answering service at (570) 622-2900. If you are contacting our office for medication refills, please have your pharmacy name and phone number available in order to facilitate prescription processing. Please recognize that some medication renewals may require an office visit to assure proper continuity of care.

Insurance

We participate with many insurance plans, including PA Blue Shield, Capital Blue Cross, Keystone Health Plan, First Priority Health and Life, Geisinger Health Plan, Health America, Health Assurance, Aetna and Medicare. We are also a participating provider with numerous managed health care (ie. HMO and PPO) plans as well. If you are unsure of Dr. Kimmel’s participation with your insurance, please feel free to call our office and speak directly with our billing department.

In general, our guidelines for billing are outlined by the insurance carriers with which we participate. Please recognize that insurance is considered a method of assisting the patient for fees owed to the physician and not necessarily a complete substitute for payment. It is therefore, your responsibility to pay any insurance deductible, co-payment, co-insurance or other unpaid balance not covered by your health insurance.

Financial Obligations / Financing

We will make every effort to keep down the cost of your medical care. To this extent, you can assist by providing payment at the time a service is rendered. Additionally, we will inform you of any out-of-pocket expenses specified by your insurance plan prior to your scheduled procedure. Specific questions regarding your billing may be directed to our billing staff. They will be happy to provide you with any necessary assistance and guidance during regular office hours.

When it comes to financing your procedures we accept a variety of payment options, including personal checks and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) as well as financing arrangements with a local bank and national health care credit organizations (Care-Credit). If financial considerations are what stand between you and your enhanced new image, we are confident that we can offer you a financing option that best fits your budget and lifestyle. Once you’ve made this determination, you’ll be provided a confidential credit application which you can complete either at our office or in the privacy of your own home, depending on your personal preference. In either case, our experienced staff are available to assist you in this process if needed.
