Do you want fuller, natural-looking eyebrows? You may want to consider microblading. This semipermanent procedure uses a tattooing technique to create hair-like strokes across your brow line, giving greater color and depth to your eyebrows without the need for continuous filling.
Dr. Robert M. Kimmel offers microblading to patients in Pottsville and Hazleton, Pennsylvania. You can easily book a consultation and discuss your eyebrow goals with him.
Microblading can be considered a type of tattoo. It uses semi-permanent pigment particles to penetrate the skin and create realistic-looking strokes that resemble natural hair along the eyebrow region. The pigment eventually fades, but it delivers natural-looking results that can allow you to confidently and boldly express yourself without the need for continuous eyebrow filler.
You can swim after microblading, shower normally, and wear makeup as you normally would. The pigment penetrates the epidermis and dermis, but only at a depth between 0.08mm to 0.15mm. Traditional tattoos go much deeper, around 1mm into the dermis.
Because microblading is not placed as deep, it eventually metabolizes and fades away. Over time, it will begin to gradually appear lighter.
Anyone who has thin or sparse eyebrows and would like a fuller appearance can consider microblading. It is not suitable for anyone who is currently taking blood thinners, has a heart condition, or who is pregnant.
Microblading can cause excessive bleeding, so it would be dangerous for anyone with a heart or vascular condition to undergo the procedure. Those who are prone to certain skin conditions, such as keloids and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, may also not be ideal candidates for microblading.
Additionally, patients with allergies to certain materials, such as dyes or inks, may not qualify for treatment.
Dr. Kimmel can recommend the right procedure for your needs and will let you know if microblading would be a safe, viable option for you.
The procedure takes between two to three hours, and the results will last from 18 months to 30 months. Before the procedure, you will spend time discussing your ideal shape with Dr. Kimmel, then settling on a style and color.
Two treatment sessions are required for maximum results. The first session is dedicated to ensuring proper brow symmetry and style; the second involves applying more pigmentation for about an hour to an hour and 30 minutes.
You may experience some sensitivity and redness after treatment, but other than that, you are able to return to your usual routine. After the second session, the top layer of your skin will start to peel and flake; itching is common during this time, but it fades as the skin sheds its top layer and your more natural-looking results emerge underneath.
The complete microblading recovery process typically takes 30 days. Patients will see complete results in four to six weeks. You will be able to call our office any time you have questions and follow-up with Dr. Kimmel about your recovery.
