It is true that there are good cosmetic surgeons all around the world, not only in the United States. However, the idea of traveling out of the country for a more affordable cosmetic procedure is one to approach with a great deal of discernment. Medical tourism is not new; entire organizations revolve around helping patients find the services they want at the price that they like. Even if you hear wonderful feedback from someone who’s done it, this type of travel could cost you far more than you imagined.

Surgical procedures are never without risk. For that reason, patients who are considering traveling abroad for cosmetic treatment may spend months looking for the “right” surgeon, and their selection may be based on unreliable information from a website or brochure.
