Imagine you, a busy professional with a demanding career and a busy personal life, looking in the mirror and feeling self-conscious about your face’s wrinkles and fine lines.
You’ve always wanted to improve your appearance, but the idea of going under the knife and the long recovery time is a major concern. Then you discover non-surgical cosmetic procedures, a revolutionary new way to enhance your looks without the pain and downtime of traditional surgery.
Learn about non-invasive cosmetic procedures to boost your self-confidence and achieve your desired look.
There are several types of non-invasive cosmetic procedures, each with its own benefits and limitations. Among the most popular non-invasive procedures are:
These are just a few examples of the many non-invasive cosmetic procedures available. Your plastic surgeon will determine the best option for you after discussing the benefits and limitations of each procedure.
It’s important to remember that non-surgical cosmetic procedures are not a one-size-fits-all solution and should come with realistic expectations. As always, research the practitioner and their qualifications before proceeding with any procedure.

We tend to see the signs of aging first on the upper face. Horizontal lines show we’ve worried. Frown lines show we’ve concentrated or expressed displeasure. Under eye bags remind us of the value of a good night’s sleep. Crow’s feet show we have laughed and smiled, hopefully a lot. As many memories as there may be in these expression lines, they feel concerning when they make us look older. So concerning, in fact, that we may miss how aging settles on the lower face. At some point, we start to see heaviness in the hollows beneath the cheekbones. We see jowls at the jawline and sagging skin or excessive fat beneath the chin. These signs of aging change the structure of the face. Fortunately, there are ways to address them.
We love helping adults of all ages feel their best. When the signs of aging alter the face’s youthful “Y” shape into more of an inverted “V,” we perform specific treatments that restore firmness and shape. It doesn’t always take surgery to do this, either.
Facial rejuvenation need not be impossible nor difficult. We have several treatment options for you to explore. To do so, contact our Hazleton or Pottsville office today.
There are so many cosmetic treatments available today that it’s not surprising we may miss the immense value of one or two of them. For example, microneedling is a minimally invasive beauty treatment that licensed professionals have been performing for years. Even celebs tout the benefits of microneedling. And yet, this is one of several skin treatments that many people never realized they needed. We’d like to discuss this.
Anything that mentions the word needle may sound unpleasant. Microneedling is anything but unpleasant. The treatment does involve the insertion of micro-fine needles up to 3.0 mm into the dermis, yes. However, the needles aren’t much denser than a strand of hair. To improve patient experience, providers apply a topical numbing cream to the skin before commencing with treatment. Finally, the ultra-fine needles are inserted in a strictly vertical pattern utilizing an automated hand-piece that moves quickly over the skin.
What could possibly be the intent of poking tiny channels into the skin with needles? This may sound somewhat absurd, right? Well, when microneedles are passed over the skin, the channels that they leave behind are only there momentarily. The body closes off the micro-injuries within an hour or two. In that time, though, the body perceives injury that requires healing. To heal the channels that have been purposefully created, the body sends new collagen into the skin. New collagen, along with its sister healing chemical elastin, plumps and softens the skin right away.
Seeing collagen as a healing protein, we can observe the extended benefits of enhanced collagen production. This protein floods wounds like scraped knees or paper cuts. Similarly, collagen can infuse the scar tissue that forms after acne. For individuals with either chronic acne or acne scarring, microneedling can be the catalyst for dermatologic change.
As a living organ, the skin is continually regenerating itself. Old, dead skin cells should naturally fall away from the epidermis. They don’t always cooperate. Microneedling stimulates cellular renewal through which these damaged, dull cells slough off. The new cells that come up to the surface are those that have received an influx of collagen and elastin. The results of this regeneration are fewer obvious lines and wrinkles, smaller pores, and a brighter complexion.
Are you ready for a quick refresher for your skin? Contact us in Hazleton or Pottsville to learn more about microneedling.
We wear a lifetime of memories on our face. In some ways, this can feel good. We may love our memories and, at the same time, wish for our face to go back to the way it once was. There is a way to have both. Facial rejuvenation treatments range from eyelid and brow lift surgery to mini facelifts to full face and neck lifts and even include several nonsurgical modalities. Each technique offers unique benefits. Some are appealing because they carry no downtime and others are appealing because they achieve results that last many years. Whichever you choose, you want to know what comes next.
Facial rejuvenation turns the hands of time but does not stop the aging process. Therefore, what comes next focuses on slowing the effects of aging. Fortunately, studies have given us plenty of data to understand aging and how to manage it on a cellular level. We want to share a few strategies here.
Aging occurs on a chemical level in the body. At various ages, certain processes slow or stop. As it pertains to the skin and superficial tissue, it is the decrease in collagen production that is of particular interest. Collagen is a protein that heals wounds and also that firms the skin and tissue that lies beneath it. In our early twenties, the production of collagen begins to slow down. By middle age, our collagen-producing abilities may be down to a slow crawl. Some people take collagen supplements to boost this protein but some studies indicate that it is vitamin C that really does the body good. Vitamin C is a stimulating nutrient that supports ongoing collagen production when taken daily. In addition to vitamin C, experts recommend consuming plenty of water and healthy fats such as avocado oil or olive oil to support the skin’s natural elasticity.
We mentioned that vitamin C is integral to the body’s collagen-producing capabilities. You may have noticed that vitamin C is also a top ingredient in many skincare products. The reason that vitamin C is recommended for topical application is that it has antioxidant properties. Antioxidants fight free radicals, erratic cells that can cause premature aging. Along with vitamin C products, broad-spectrum sunscreen is a must-have for skin of all ages. The ultraviolet light in the sun’s rays degrades collagen fibers. Sunscreen filters those rays or reflects them so their effect on the skin is much less.

We all want to feel good when we get dressed in the morning, and also when we get undressed. To maintain the body, we are told to eat well and stay active. Indulging is something to do only occasionally, if at all. This, they say, will give us the body we want. Have you taken all the right steps only to discover that there are certain fatty deposits that just don’t want to leave you alone? You’re not alone. More importantly, you’re not stuck. Let’s talk about the value of Liposonix®, an innovative fat-reduction treatment available in our Pottsville and Hazleton offices.
This non-surgical body contouring procedure harnesses the power of ultrasound energy. We are familiar with the safety of ultrasound in the area of diagnostic medicine, and are now witnessing its efficacy in the area of aesthetic medicine. What happens when high-intensity focused ultrasound hits fat cells after penetrating the skin is heat transfer. This heating of unwanted cells slightly damages them so the body can then metabolize them naturally.
The clear advantage to Liposonix is that fat is disrupted and eliminated without the associated risks of surgery. There is no need for anesthesia because energy is delivered from the outside of the body. This also means there are no incisions, and there are no scars. Treatment appointments may take up to 90 minutes depending on the area we are treating. After each session, however, patients are able to immediately resume their normal activities. These are significant benefits that make up for any “delay” in noticeable results.
Because Liposonix relies on the natural processing of fat, it can take several weeks to notice a reduction in the circumference of the treatment area. If we were to look at surgical liposuction, though, we would still notice a lapse between treatment and final results due to the natural swelling and bruising that occur after surgery.
Every body is different and innovative technologies allow us the opportunity to customize fat-reduction based on particular needs and preferences. Get the care that your body needs in our practices near Philadelphia.
Don’t you just love technology and how much as have advanced in this area? Who listens to CDs anymore? Most of us download digital files directly to our devices when we want to hear our favorite music. And cosmetic surgery? This is an area in which growth has remained consistent. However, there are more people who are taking a stand against aging earlier in life. This way, the need for surgical lifts may be postponed by several years.
We are a cosmetic surgery practice, yes; and we are also interested in helping the men and women who visit our Hazelton and Pottsville offices maximize their skin with numerous treatment options. One that we are excited to be using at this time is CooLifting, a four-minute treatment that makes a significant impact on the skin.
CooLifting is a fascinating facial that promotes gorgeous skin with a blend of botanicals, hyaluronic acid, and a quick spritz of carbon dioxide. Essentially, this is like a miniature version of the cryotherapy that has become such a hot trend lately. The carboxy spray that is passed over the skin affects positive regeneration at the cellular level by increasing microcirculation. This increase prompts the accelerated production of collagen and elastin. The application of hyaluronic acid and botanicals adds luminosity and hydration that is vital to healthy aging.
Non-surgical, Non-invasive tissue tightening is convenient and pain-free. We are proud to support our patient’s preferences for this type of treatment without inhibiting the results they can enjoy. Learn more about the innovative technology behind CooLifting by scheduling your visit with us. More importantly, schedule your treatment so you can experience all the benefits of a cryofacial for yourself!

We’ve been living through quite a time of evolution that has touched every corner of the beauty industry. Women today are not using the Pond’s cold cream their mothers used; they are coating their skin with all sorts of substances, from retinoid creams to snail mucin. Aging is a rather simple problem these days, no doubt. However, the plethora of non-surgical treatments should not be taken as an indication that surgical lifting is outdated.
When it comes to wrinkle reduction and facial “lifting,” most people lean toward the power of injectables. Botox and other neuromodulators are, in fact, really good at smoothing out the upper face, and may even be appropriate for lifting the brow that has dropped. Soft tissue fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane may be used for everything from under eye bags to marionette lines to nose reshaping. We offer all of these treatments and more. They work. But not always.
Here’s why injectables shouldn’t always be viewed as an alternative to a surgical lift:
To layer filler over filler over filler, even though these products get absorbed over time, can lead to an obviously filled look. We’ve seen this play out time and time again in recent history. Actress Courtney Cox is a prime example of overdoing it, and is now outspoken about her A Ha moment and subsequent dissolution of dermal fillers. The whole point of anti-aging is to do so as naturally as possible. Sometimes, a subtle surgical lift and fat transfer is the best way to maintain natural, youthful beauty.
One of the primary reasons that injectables are popular among adults of all ages (and stages of aging) is that each treatment is affordable. Of course, we cannot argue that, for many people, it is more appealing to pay outright for a rejuvenating treatment than to finance a surgical facelift. However, it is important to look at how often those treatments are being performed. Sometimes, the most cost-effective approach is to tighten and lift the skin with surgery, and to restore fullness with fat injections.
Fall is a great time for facial rejuvenation because we are right in between social seasons. Learn more about facelift or brow lift surgery, eyelid surgery, and injectables when you call our Hazleton or Pottsville office.

Getting older is a challenge for men and women of a “certain age,” as the aging process brings with it thinner, less elastic skin, which is much more vulnerable to wrinkles. Time marches on and your aging skin marches right along with it.
The sun is a fine source of Vitamin D but it’s not so fine for your face. The harmful UV and UVB rays of the sun are one of the main causes of wrinkles. How does this happen? The sun’s rays break down your skin’s connective tissues and wrinkles are the result. More importantly, repeated, unprotected sun exposure can cause skin cancer and the affects of the sun’s damaging rays are cumulative over your lifetime.
Wrinkles usually appear first around your eyes, between your brows and around your mouth. Why? Because repeated facial expressions, such as frowning and smiling eventually result in wrinkles. Keep that smile but try not to worry – easier said than done – but your frown lines don’t need extra help.
Taking care of your skin is a good idea at any age, but here are six things you can do to protect your skin against the wrinkling that time may bring:
