3 Ways To Treat Acne Thank goodness that you are an adult now. Gone are the days of being awkward during class, wondering where to sit at lunch, the pains of braces cutting the inside of your mouth, having to deal with a curfew! The days of puberty are long since gone, so why are you still dealing with acne? If you’re wondering how you can deal with acne, from angry-red pimples to snow-capped whiteheads, keep reading!
Maybe you’re already washing your face; however, did you know what you’re washing your face with matters? If you’re using a harsh soap or one filled with perfumes, it can potentially dry out your skin which can lead to even more oil production as a response which can lead to more acne. Using a gentle cleanser, twice a day, while being mindful of both the force you wash with and the temperature of the water so as to not irritate your skin, can help!
Products containing benzoyl peroxide as an active ingredient can help remove the excess oil that leads to acne. Be mindful of your skin’s behavior towards these products, some have been known to cause dry skin in some people. Also, be mindful of potentially reddening or scaly skin. These over-the-counter products typically help with mild to moderate acne and may take a few weeks to show some, if any, results.
If you groaned when you saw on this list meant to help with acne the two top ways being ‘washing your face’ and ‘over the counter acne medication’, then maybe you need extra help. If your acne is painful or has been endured for a long time, consider seeking the professional and effective help of Dr. Kimmel! With a variety of techniques and procedures, Dr. Kimmel is sure to set you in the right direction and be able to help!

Lip augmentation injections are not permanent. The chemical solution will slowly exit your body within 12 to 18 months (some injections wear off within six months). Also, if you decide that you don’t like the look or size of your lip injections, then you can request a reversal agent. The reversal agent chemical solution will return your lips to their natural state within several days.
You may see people whose lip injections give them “duck lips” or lips that do not appear natural on their face. Rest assured, excessively large lips do not occur from one injection. Cosmetic surgeons purposely inject a little filler at a time, so you can decide how full you want your lips to look. Thus, if someone has “duck lips,” it’s because they’ve requested several lip injections.
Perhaps some people have this misconception because your lips will feel stiff and swollen immediately after the injection. However, this stiffness soon wears off, leaving behind fuller, natural-feeling lips. Your lips should feel natural and normal around two weeks post-injection.
Anyone can benefit from cosmetic enhancements and not only women want kissable lips–men get lip augmentation injections, too.

Gynecomastia can result from various factors, including hormonal imbalances, certain medications, excessive weight gain, and aging. In some cases, it can even be hereditary. Unfortunately, no exercise or dieting can fix gynecomastia; however, many men choose to undergo breast reduction surgery to correct this issue and achieve a more masculine physique.
The procedure typically begins with an incision along the lower border of the nipple or in the armpit. Depending on the patient’s needs, the surgeon removes any excess skin or glandular tissue around the chest area using liposuction or excisional techniques. The incisions are then closed with sutures and bandaged with medical dressing before wearing compression garments which will help promote healing and reduce swelling during recovery.
Once your surgery is complete, you should take some time off work (typically one week), so your body has plenty of time to rest and recover. During this time, your doctor may advise you not to engage in strenuous activities, such as lifting or running, as these could disrupt the healing process. To help speed up recovery, you should also avoid smoking and drinking alcohol during this period. Maintaining a clean and dry bandage at all times will also prevent infection at the surgical site.
Usually, after a week or two, patients can return to light exercises, like walking. It is best to wait a month or two before strenuous exercise. It will only take a few days for you to return to work and regular activities. Exercises that target the chest, such as weight training, should be avoided for up to six weeks.

Different types of chemical peels are available, and the type you receive will depend on your desired results. The alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peel is the most common peel, designed to treat wrinkles, sun damage, and acne.
If you’re considering a chemical peel, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, we’ll give you everything you need to know about chemical peels – from the types of peels available to the risks and side effects associated with the procedure.
Chemical peels fall into three main categories:
Superficial peels are the most common peel and are often referred to as “lunchtime peels” because they take place in as little as 30 minutes. They can treat fine wrinkles, sun damage, and mild acne.
Medium peels help treat wrinkles, sun damage, and moderate acne. They penetrate the skin deeper than superficial peels and often require anesthesia. Medium peels can cause some redness and swelling, usually taking 7-10 days to heal.
Deep peels are the most aggressive peel to treat deep wrinkles, severe sun damage, and advanced acne. They penetrate the skin deeply and often require anesthesia. Deep peels can cause extensive redness and swelling, taking 14-21 days to heal.
After a chemical peel, it is crucial to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you must go out in the sun, wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

BMI, or body mass index, is a measure of your body fat based on height and weight. It’s a common way for doctors to assess whether someone is at a healthy weight. BMI can also be a factor in cosmetic surgery. For example, if you are planning to have liposuction, your surgeon may use your BMI to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.
BMI is just one factor that can affect your cosmetic surgery results. Other factors, such as skin elasticity and hair density, can also play a role. However, if you are considering cosmetic surgery, it’s essential to talk to your surgeon about your BMI and how it could affect your results.
Your BMI is a number that indicates whether you are a healthy weight for your height. For most people, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. If your BMI is outside of this range, it can be a risk factor for complications during surgery.
That’s why, if you are considering surgery, it is important to try to maintain a healthy BMI. Here are some tips for doing so:
By following these tips, you can help improve your chances of having a successful surgery and recovery.

Gynecomastia is often caused by an imbalance in hormones that result in too much estrogen and too little testosterone. This imbalance can be caused by many factors such as genetics, medications, alcohol consumption or even liver disease. In addition, if you are obese or overweight this can also lead to gynecomastia.
It is important that you understand what your options are, so that you can decide which procedure is right for you. The most common procedures are liposuction and gland excision; however, other surgeries include direct excision or excision with an implant.
We prefer to perform both gynecomastia and abdominoplasty together which allows us to perform both a liposuction portion of the abdominoplasty along with the actual removal of excess skin from the chest area (which is not possible using just liposuction alone).
This will allow for more complete removal of excess fat tissue from both areas and make your results much more aesthetically pleasing than if we had simply done one or the other by itself.
Liposuction is one of the newest procedures used for gynecomastia surgery because it does not involve removing any glandular tissue or skin from the chest area.
This allows for a quicker recovery time than the other procedures mentioned above; however, it does not provide permanent results like gland excision or direct excision do.
Liposuction can be performed on all patients regardless of age or BMI, but it is commonly done on men between the ages of 20 and 50 years old who have less than 50 pounds of fat.
Gynecomastia surgery is one of the most common types of plastic surgery, where the quality and skills of the surgeon can make a big difference in the results.

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that enhances the size, shape, and appearance of a woman’s breasts. The breast implants used in breast augmentation can be made of either saline or silicone gel.
In some cases, a woman may need to have her implants removed due to infection or other complications. When this happens, Dr. Kimmel can remove your old implant and replace it with a new one.
The most common type of breast augmentation procedure is called “subglandular” breast augmentation because it involves placing the implant under the muscle tissue in your chest. This procedure allows Dr. Kimmel to create a more natural-looking result by placing the implant beneath the pectoral muscle and filling out the space between them with fat from another area of your body.
Where breast augmentation is concerned, there are plenty of options available to both surgeons and patients when it comes to sizing and shape.

Tickle Liposculpture is minimally invasive and FDA-approved for getting rid of excess fat and helping sculpt your desired body shape.
During Tickle Lipo (officially called Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture), Dr. Kimmel uses infrasonic technology to remove excess fat cells. He makes a very small incision and then inserts a small air-pressured metal tube into the incision that breaks up fat with oscillations, rotations, and vibrations. It’s these vibrations that give Tickle liposculpture its name.
The infrasonic vibrations “trick” your body’s sensory system so that your body experiences tickling instead of pain during the procedure.
Because it’s a quick procedure, you can opt to have tickle lipo on multiple areas during the same session and use the excess fat for sculpting other areas.
Instead of receiving general anesthesia as you do with traditional liposuction, you will receive local anesthesia on the lipo site. Using local anesthesia means that you’ll be awake during the procedure. However, the incision sites will be numb, so you won’t feel pain.
Tickle liposculpture is less invasive than traditional liposuction. Traditional lipo involves larger incisions and suctioning out fat beneath the skin, which sometimes results in tissue damage. Whereas, tickle lipo preserves the surrounding tissue.
Tickle liposculpture is also more comfortable and efficient than typical liposuction, allowing precise body sculpting with minimal trauma. Plus, the fat is removed intact, which makes it possible to use it for body sculpting purposes during the same procedure.
This procedure results in significantly less swelling and bruising than traditional liposuction and has a less painful recovery. Thus, you can expect to be back to doing your normal activities in only a few days rather than a possibility of several months with traditional liposuction recovery.
Dr. Robert M. Kimmel, MD, FACS, PC, is an American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeon. He has over 15 years of clinical practice experience and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

Liposuction is a relatively conservative procedure in comparison to other surgeries. Patients should still expect seven to 10 days of recovery afterward, though. When we say seven to 10 days, we’re referring to the initial healing that occurs through a lot of rest and activity restrictions. After these initial days of recovery, it is not uncommon to still have some tenderness in the surgical area. Also, deep tissue healing is ongoing for at least a few more weeks. To help support this healing, as well as reduce swelling, it is beneficial to continue wearing a compression garment even after returning to work and light activities. After surgery, it is common for the body to experience a sustained inflammatory response as an integral part of healing. This contributes to swelling and, while that side effect may not be painful, it could make the treated area appear “puffy” for some up to 4 weeks. Knowing this, patients can plan their surgery and special events accordingly.
The time it takes to fully recover from liposuction can vary from one person to another, but who doesn’t like the idea of expediting their process if possible! Some of the ways that you might help your body heal optimally after liposuction include:
Whether or not you have a special event like a vacation in the near future, you deserve to love what you see when you look in the mirror. Dr. Kimmel performs tumescent liposuction and Tickle Liposuction. Patients with more time to reach their goals and a desire for nonsurgical body contouring may be interested in the Liposonix procedure. Abdominoplasty is a tummy tuck procedure. However, there’s more to it than that. Going beyond the basics, you want your surgeon to explain to you what kind of tummy tuck you need, a full abdominoplasty, mini-tuck, rectus repair? Do you need more than one technique, or do you need something else entirely? A very good surgeon will be able to make a recommendation and also back it up with clear reasoning. The options for tummy tuck surgery are varied, which means you should know a little about your own anatomy.
The abdominal wall is made up of various layers. The skin, then fat, then muscle at the innermost layer. For a tummy tuck to successfully achieve optimal contouring, every layer must be addressed. In more detail, the abdominal wall has two vertical rectus muscles that sit front and center. They are surrounded by the oblique muscles on each side. When the central muscles split, it is referred to as rectus diastasis. If the muscles require repair, this may be done without a full tummy tuck incision if the patient does not have excess fat and skin to trim.
The layer of abdominal fat may be the primary problem that needs correction. In this instance, the surgeon would recommend liposuction instead of a tummy tuck. The skilled eye observes the skin and anticipates how it may or may not retract after fat reduction. For some patients, the skin may look loose and wrinkled after liposuction alone. Tissue laxity may be corrected surgically, with the proper abdominoplasty technique, or a doctor may correct the problem with a nonsurgical skin tightening protocol performed after liposuction incisions have healed. The same treatment protocol may be advisable for patients with minimal unwanted fat and loose skin or for patients concerned primarily with the appearance of sagging or wrinkled abdominal skin. For skin tightening alone, patients may consider Refirme Skin Tightening treatment. For nonsurgical fat reduction and skin tightening, Refirme may be combined with Liposonix. The treatment can also be added to a treatment protocol after surgical liposuction.
The question of whether or not to have a tummy tuck is just the tip of the iceberg. For a more in-depth discussion about your cosmetic goals, schedule a consultation with us in Pottsville or Hazleton.

ReFirme™ treatments are one of our two powerful skin-tightening services. This procedure combines infrared light and bipolar radiofrequency to safely and effectively tighten the skin by stimulating new collagen growth. Immediate improvement is noticed thanks to instantaneous collagen tightening. Long-term improvement occurs as the body remodels collagen with healthy new production over time.
For more profound results, some of our patients choose to address their loose, lax skin through Triniti skin-tightening. This process combines the power of the Refirme system with FotoFacial RF and Matrix IR Fractional, each of which targets specific concerns. Triniti is more comprehensive in its targeting of laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, and pigment concerns caused by aging and sun damage.
The loss of volume and firmness in facial tissues is not the only thing about our appearance that changes with age. For many of our patients, this time of year motivates them to address the issue of stubborn fat. Maybe you’ve been following a diet and exercise routine that you’ve carefully developed to reach a goal, and yet you’ve got a problem area. You’re not alone. Weight loss is not all that difficult, but body contouring can be. In our Pottsville and Hazleton offices, we’ve got options to correct those areas.
Liposonix® is a nonsurgical body contouring treatment that employs high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to permanently destroy unwanted fat cells. The body naturally clears the broken down fat cell products over time. Liposonix® treatment takes about an hour. While results do not occur overnight, patients realize about one size difference as the body clears the unwanted fat. This is a huge benefit of Liposonix, that one treatment, taking about one hour, can make you one size smaller.
For more pronounced body contouring, patients might consider “tickle liposuction.” Technically, the procedure is called Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (NIL). It is performed using an FDA-approved device that utilizes an air pressure powered cannula (tiny metal tube) to create a patented triple motion of piston-like micro oscillation, rotation, and vibration. This increases efficacy and comfort while minimizing disruption to surrounding tissue.
With a new year ahead, there is a lot to look forward to. More beauty is one example! Contact us to schedule your visit.
